Conference on Renewable Resources & Biorefineries

BCBT group attended the 15th International Conference on Renewable Resources & Biorefineries (RRB-15) in Toulouse, France.

During the conference, delegates from university, industry, governmental and non-governmental organizations presented their views on industrial biotechnology, sustainable (green) chemistry and agricultural policy related to the use of renewable raw materials for non-food applications and energy supply.

On 4th June, Solange Mussatto delivered the opening lecture "Hemicellulose and protein integration in sustainable biorefineries" of the session Biorefineries.

Giuliano Dragone gave an oral presentation on "Selective recovery of acetic acid from biomass by subcritical water pretreatment" at the session Pretreatment and transformation of lignocellulosics.

Other presentations at RRB-15 dealt with the following topic areas: biobased materials, bioactive compounds from biomass, biocatalysis for bioresource transformation,

bioenergy, advanced biofuels, renewable fuels and future mobility in Horizon 2020, biomass fractionation, biorefineries, biosurfactants, chemical platform molecules, CO2 utilisation, downstream processing, metabolic engineering of cell factories, micro and macro algae technology, nutrient recycling: biofertiliser production, pretreatment and transformation of lignocellulosics, sustainability & the circular economy, thermochemical transformations of biomass and valorisation of biomass waste streams.
